5B Classroom News: Week of May 25th

A note from Mrs. Burke:
There are only 2 more weeks of school left!  The last day for students is Friday, June 12th.  This week was our last week of language arts and math assignments.  In language arts students wrapped up their unit about The American Revolution, and in math they continued with assignments in Freckle. This upcoming week students will be working on special end-of-the-year activities.

Parents, please make sure you check your email for a letter about our 5th grade graduation celebration.  The 5th grade team is very excited to celebrate our amazing 5th graders on Monday, June 8th.

The challenge for this week was to build a fort!  Students could choose to build one inside our outside.  They had lots of fun with this challenge and created very cool forts.  Take a look at their beautiful forts:

5B Classroom News: Week of May 18th

A note from Mrs. Burke:
The school year is quickly coming to an end. The 5th grade team has been making plans for 5th grade graduation and I will be in touch about this after we receive approval from the superintendent.

This week students focused on The American Revolution in ELA and in math they practiced math skills of their choice using a program called Freckle.

The weekly challenge was to celebrate kindness. I am so proud of all of the kind acts  5B students exhibited this week.  Way to go!

Take a look at how students sprinkled kindness this week:

Aaron:  Helping his family with yardwork.

Andre:  Helping his dad move topsoil to the right spot.

Ben:  Helping his dad repair the chicken coop.

Colin:  Mowing the lawn so his dad could exercise.

Max:  Writing a letter to his penpal.

Peyton:  Helping her dad get supplies at Home Depot for projects around her house.

5B Classroom News: Week of May 11th

A note from Mrs. Burke:
This week we returned to the ELA and math assignments after taking a break last week to work on the yearbook and explore some science topics.  I suggested to students that they try to do one ELA and one Math slide a day so their assignments continue to be their best quality work.  Ms. Rhoades and I have been very busy putting the yearbook together.   We can't wait to share it with the you!

I want to give a big thank you to everyone who showed up for the "We Miss You" Parade.  It was wonderful to see so many of you and your support is greatly appreciated.  I miss all of you so much! Here are some pictures the 5th grade team took to celebrate our wonderful soon to be 5th grade graduates.  Virtual hugs to all of you!

Weekly Challenge: Celebrate your favorite board game!
Thank you for the beautiful pictures for the favorite board game challenge.  It's so nice to see you having fun at home!

5B Classroom News: Week of May 4th

A note from Mrs. Burke:
Last week students worked on their yearbook page. This is the first time we have created a 5th grade yearbook at a distance, and the students rose to the occasion and did a beautiful job on their page. They also had a chance to do science lessons about Earth Materials and Systems and The Universe and Its Stars. This coming week students will be returning to the languages arts and math slideshows for their assignments. Thank you parents for your continued support. I greatly appreciate it!

The weekly challenge for the week of May 4th was Celebrate the Great Outdoors. Students found lots of opportunities to get outside and enjoy themselves. Take a look at what they did:
