5B Classroom News

Here is what 5B has been up to for the week of April 24th:

Dinosaurs Visited the Regions of the U.S. Rug
Here are anonymous posts from some students who are enjoying a new dinosaur game on the rug:

"The dinosaurs, aka the sweatshirt cyrusrex, are almost a extinct, but with more people caring for them they will not become extinct."

"The dinosaurs are starting evolve and grow arms to be able dab, Now we have a new rug to have dino fights."

Earth's Systems: Biome Project
"In science we are learning about biomes. It is super fun because we get to do fun, but interesting things, and to paint and be part of a group. It is challenging, but cool, at the same time. In the biome groups we paint information booths and shape clay for dioramas. Some students have 3D printed animals which is multiple layers of plastic melted together, but the layers are tiny." - Ella

Fact Fluency
Students continue to practice their multiplication facts.  This week they learned a new game called "High Times."  If you have a deck of cards at home, please ask them to show you how to play this game.  It's a great way to help them learn their multiplication facts.

Reading
In our new reading groups we are reading Woods Runner. It is based on the Revolutionary War.

National Walk at Lunch Day
On Thursday we walked with our buddy class to help celebrate National Walk at Lunch Day. We didn't walk at lunch because the students would not have had enough time to eat, but we walked just before lunch with our buddy class, 2C. This was to help students practice a healthy activity and to be good role models for their 2nd grade buddies.
