All School Celebration and Learning to Take Notes

We started off the week with an all school celebration.  Students earned enough alphabits to fill the jar in the lobby. Students earn alphabits when they exhibit expected behaviors in school. Each time the jar fills up, they earn an all school celebration.  On Monday they got to draw in the parking lot with chalk.  There were some very creative designs, including a swimming pool, in which some of the 5th graders decided to hold a swimming competition!

As part of our government unit, students have been learning how to take notes. Figuring out what to highlight when reading and how to put their notes into a planner has been a learning experience for them. They will use their notes next week to create a poster about the U.S. Government.
